Volunteer Registration Process

Special Olympics in Aurora has approximately 90 volunteers to help run and support our many sports programs.

If you are interested in coaching with us, check our “sports at a glance” page (click link in blue) to see if there is are one or more programs that interest you. You are welcome to contact the Head Coach(es) directly to see if they are looking for additional volunteers, or you contact the Volunteer Coordinator.

We also have vacancies on our council from time to time. These are administrative positions that help support our programs. Our Volunteer Coordinator can provide you information regarding current needs, and chat with you to determine the best fit for your skills and interests.
To become a volunteer, you will be asked to:

  • Register online (includes providing 2 references which will be checked)
  • Complete a Police Vulnerable Sector Screening (online request) if you are age 18 and over. We will reimburse your cost!
  • Complete the following free online training courses: General Special Olympics training, AODA, Concussion training (for sports coaches)
  • Complete a 1 day NCCP training course within a year of commencing volunteering (we reimburse the cost)
